Celso González

Born in Puerto Rico, Celso González Quiñones is a pioneering contemporary artist whose work encompasses painting, sculpture, murals, mosaics, architecture, and film. He began painting at the age of eight under the mentorship of Antonio Cortez and later continued his formal studies at the School of Plastic Arts of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture.

His university path led him to the New School of Architecture in San Diego and later to SciArc in Los Angeles, where he became the first Latino to win the prestigious Lyceum Fellowship Competition—an award that allowed him to travel across Latin America and profoundly shaped his artistic vision.

His work has been exhibited in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Qatar, Italy, France, Argentina, Brazil, Taiwan, Paraguay, the United States, and beyond, and he has participated in biennials, art fairs, museums, and galleries worldwide. He has collaborated with globally renowned visual artists such as Bill Viola, Carlos CruzDiez, Ted Carrasco, and El Mac, as well as musicians including Robi Draco Rosa,Calle 13, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Tego Calderón, and Eladio Carrión.

Among his most notable projects is Ceremonia in Costa Palmas, Mexico, which has earned him international recognition and media coverage.

Currently, Celso is leading the artistic direction of the Afro Corridor in Loíza, a project that highlights Afro-Caribbean culture in its diverse expressions. Through SIEMPRE Estudio Creativo, the studio he leads with a multidisciplinary team, he continues to design and produce innovative public art and large-scale projects that merge cultural heritage with contemporary practice.
